Piazzale Michelangelo is the greatest and most famous lookout for a stunning view of Florence. Our 2.5 hour private guided tour will start on one of the top destinations in Florence, the Ponte Vecchio or Old Bridge and bring us to one of the Piazzale Michelangelo.

The route to Piazzale Michelangelo will not be difficult, because this walking tour will have the perfect speed - your own!

After crossing the Ponte Vecchio, we will pass the most authentic parts of the Oltrarno district. We will walk through the sought bank of the river Arno towards the Tower of San Niccolò, an old tower of the now destroyed medieval city walls and climb the famous stairs known as the 'Rampe del Poggi'.

Reaching the top of the hill we will discover a breathtaking and excellent panoramic view of Florence

Piazzale Michelangelo was built in the 19th century by the architect Giuseppe Poggi as a monument to the most important sculptor of the time. In the middle of the piazza, you will see a bronze statue of David facing Florence from the center of the vast square, the Forte Belvedere, and the Chiesa di San Miniato al Monte. Beyond the city are the green hills of Fiesole and Settignano. Dedicated to Michelangelo Buonarroti, the Piazzale not only has one of Florence's two David copies, it also has the bronze copies of the four allegories of the Medici Chapel of San Lorenzo. From the piazza, a five minute stroll up past the church of San Salvatore will lead us to the beautiful basilica of San Miniato al Monte, standing atop one of the highest points in the city with a stunning view. San Miniato al Monte is a perfect example of original Tuscan Romanesque architecture dating from 1013.

Our tour will end walking down the hill and returning to our start point, the magnificent Ponte Vecchio.

Don’t forget to wear easy clothes and comfortable shoes…and make sure to get some water before the tour!
