Our visit will be spread out between Siena, San Gimignano and the Chianti area, where we will visit the most suggestive corners of this countryside.
Departing from Florence, our first stop will be in Siena, where our local guide will lead you through the narrow Medieval streets. We will see the Cathedral, Palazzo Comunale and Piazza del Campo, where the famous Palio takes place twice per year. Then, there will be free time for shopping and lunch.
Immersing yourself in the senese territory means living a magical adventure among multiple landscapes such as dense woods, beautiful paths and ancient farms. Siena is listed as World Heritage by UNESCO for its unique artistic heritage.
Our next stop will be in Monteriggioni, a village-fortress, well-known worldwide for its wine and fascinating countryside, where the landscape is dotted with vineyards, olive groves, Romanesque churches, villas, and castles.
Monteriggioni, located in the gentle landscape of the Sienese hills, can only evoke the Middle Ages with its thirteenth-century walls and fourteen quadrilateral towers, which were compared by Dante to the giants of hell at the time when this fortified village was repeatedly conquered both by the Sienese and by the Florentines, passing several times from one to the other.
The visit continues to San Gimignano, a Medieval town declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. In San Gimignano the visitor immerses himself completely in the atmosphere of a medieval village of the fourteenth century, whose appearance, in fact, has remained almost unchanged. The city still represents an admirable example of urban organization of the municipal age both at Italian and European level.
