The tour starts from the Ponte Vecchio, then along the Arno, we will arrive at an ancient and hidden staircase in the Oltrarno. From here, you will climb to Piazzale Michelangelo, the terrace that reveals a breathtaking view over the city of Florence. Piazzale Michelangelo was built in the nineteenth century as a monument dedicated to the genius of Michelangelo Buonarroti.
In the middle of the large square, there are also nineteenth-century replica sculptures of the great artist, including his David. We will continue to visit the Basilica of San Miniato al Monte, a jewel, a Romanesque church on the hill. The panorama of the city from San Miniato is impressive. Another place to visit in San Miniato is the Cemetery of the Holy Doors, a monumental churchyard where, among others, the director Franco Zeffirelli and Carlo Collodi, Pinocchio's father, rest.
The path to Piazzale Michelangelo will not be difficult, because we will walk at your own pace! It is recommended that you wear comfortable clothes and comfortable shoes for this tour, as this activity involves physical activity and walks through nature. And remember to bring a bottle of water!
