The artistic beauties of Florence

The artistic beauties in Florence are many. We will put them by the most important ones to the list, so to highlight the most important works present in the city.

In this list, we will include different type works such as sculptures, paintings and architecture.

1) The David by Michelangelo.

This sculpture has become one of the symbols of the most important throughout the Renaissance not only in Florence, but also in Europe. The statue, now in the Accademia museum, was originally located in front of Palazzo Vecchio. The location had an important meaning - to emphasize the strength of ancient Florence.
Florence was one of the first autonomous municipalities that tried to resist the force of the great kings of Europe that threatened the autonomy with their large armies.

2) The Cathedral Complex

Cathedral Square is a center of Florence and is composed of many architectural and artistic works of inestimable value, so we cannot speak only about one single piece, but only about the whole complex of beautiful architectural monuments.
The works of the Duomo complex: the Cathedral, the Baptistery, Giotto's bell tower, Brunelleschi's dome, thoroughly investigated for centuries by the most important scholars of art presently and in the past. Inside of these architectural buildings, there are many great historically important works and they embellish the environment and beauty of this place even more.

3) The Uffizi gallery

The architectural complex, which definitely deserves mentioning, as it is the most visited museum in Italy.
The Uffizi built by Vasari and commissioned by the Medici family. This place meant to house the administrative offices of the ancient Florence. Later the rooms had been used to place many works of art owned by the Medici family.
The Uffizi gallery is important for everyone to visit while travelling in Europe.

4) The Vasari Corridor

This is an elevated walkway up the Ponte Vecchio. Needed to be built for Cosimo de Medici to ensure a safe passage between Palazzo Vecchio – the government workplace and Palazzo Pitti - the Medici family residence.
Nowadays the Vasari Corridor is a museum. There are countless paintings of more or less famous personalities of all time. The Vasari Corridor had become such important museum, that many people and artists have donated their works so to have them exhibited in this exclusive Florentine museum. It is expected to reopen by the end of 2022.
