Most of these parks remain unknown to tourists who only visit the historic center. We therefore want to give our visitors the opportunity to experience these historic gardens exactly like the locals, walking, discovering their hidden gems and stopping for a picnic on the grass with fruit juices and typical Florentine sweets. If it is very hot, we cool off with an excellent ice cream!
Stibbert Garden. It is an English park, heavily shaded, restored in an eclectic 19th-century style by Frederick Stibbert, the collector who lived in the adjacent villa, collecting armor and objects from the East and from all over the world. There is also a small neoclassical temple and a pond with an Egyptian temple.
Villa Fabbricotti Park. This is a garden very popular with local families with children, as it also has a play area inside. It is the garden of the villa where Paolina Buonaparte, Napoleon's sister, died in 1825. This park is full of cypresses and other centuries-old trees, which surround immense lawns where you can run and walk immersed in nature. In the nineteenth century, Queen Victoria of England also passed through here.
Parnasus Gardens. From here, a real postcard of Florence opens up before the eyes of the visitor, with the enormous dome of the Duomo, the tower of Palazzo Vecchio and the many other towers and palaces of the city. Its name derives from a nineteenth-century oddity found on the steps of the garden, namely a strange fountain in the shape of a dragon.
Park Horticoltura. In 1854, the Società Toscana di Horticoltura was founded to promote the care of vegetable gardens, gardens and landscape architecture in Tuscany. Its headquarters were right in this garden, where a wonderful and enormous “tepidarium” in Art Nouveau style was built by the architect Giacomo Roster. It is a greenhouse built in iron, glass and cast iron to protect exotic plants, which cannot withstand the winter climate of Florence. In addition to the numerous ornamental plants and fruit trees, you will also find a delightful neo-Renaissance loggia with glazed terracotta decorations.
