Tours / The secret passages of Palazzo Vecchio

Palazzo Vecchio: a tour of Florence with a myriad of secret steps, drawers, hidden stairs, gates and doors ... each of these with a story!

If you've read Inferno, Dan Brown's latest novel, you may have heard of the paths crossing the staircase built in the thick wall of the medieval palace in Florence by the tyrant Walter di Brienne to reach the secret door, his escape!

If you want to know the true history of Palazzo Vecchio, this is the guided tour for you!

This tour will give you the opportunity to visit some extremely precious spaces: such as the staircase built thanks to Gualtieri di Brienne and carved into the depths of the walls; the Studiolo of Francesco I de 'Medici, a very refined treasure chest "of rare and precious things", and the Desk of his father Cosimo I (also known as Tesoretto); and finally the majestic coffered ceiling of the Salone dei Cinquecento.
You will discover hidden escape routes and secret passages that were used to stealthily move inside the building.

We will pass from the studio, the secret room of the alchemist, and see many other hidden rooms!

Our guide will provide you with many anecdotes about the Medici family, who chose the Palace as their residence in 1540.

Do not miss the opportunity to immerse yourself in the true history of Florence, our tour awaits you!
