Palazzo Pitti was the house of the Medici family and when Florence became the capital of Italy, it was the Royal Palace of Vittorio Emanuele II. Inside the palace there is also a bedroom built to host Napoleon Bonaparte in the city during the period of his governing of Italy.
Among the five museums in Palazzo Pitti, the Galleria Palatina stands out which exhibits paintings by Raphael, Titian, Rubens, and Van Dyck. We will then visit the Royal apartments.
You will stop at the Galleria del Costume, the museum dedicated to the greatest fashion in Italy, where the original clothes of Cosimo De’ Medici and his wife are kept.
It was the Medici who first looked after its appearance, creating the Italian garden model that became an example for many European courts. The extensive green area is divided regularly and constitutes a real open-air museum, adorned with ancient and Renaissance statues, grottos and large fountains.
With our guide you will have time to admire the treasures of the Galleria Palatina, the Royal Apartments and the Museo del Tesoro del Granduca. You can use the 48 hour ticket to visit freely The Gallery of Modern Art (sculpture and painting of the 1700s and 1800s), the Costume Gallery, the Boboli Gardens, and the Bardini Garden.
